KYKUIT TEA HOUSE FOUNTAIN (in process)
The Rockefeller Estate in Sleepy Hollow New York, known as Kykuit, was home to four generations of the Rockefeller family. Now a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, this extraordinary Hudson Valley landmark has been continuously and meticulously maintained for more than 100 years.
However, the fountain pool and water features terminating at the classical Tea House in Kykuit’s Inner Garden, built between 1908 and 1915, had fallen into significant disrepair
As part of a complete historic restoration, Granite Inc. has been chosen to replicate the intricate parts of the fountain in Mountain White Danby marble, including the rectangular pedestals which hold the wild goose statues, the curved tiers of spillover pools and the main bowl itself. We’re cutting and shaping these many puzzle pieces to rebuild the fountain, and renowned Barre sculptor Chris Miller is hand-carving the stalactites design which embellishes much of the original fountain’s outer faces.
This project is well underway and expected to be completed in spring of 2027. We’ll update this page as we progress with our work.
